Grief as Beloved South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.

A popular South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country battling persistent crime.

Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by three suspects, with one opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.

The motive of the shooting is unknown and no one has been arrested have taken place, according to authorities.

The Fatal Incident

Police indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building close to the Carlton Centre.

He had spent several hours at the property overseeing the installation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, it was reported.

"Authorities believe the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," a police statement stated.

Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what looked like a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before running away.

The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed across the street.

Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the attack.

Key evidence, like spent shells, were found at the scene.

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to come forward.

"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been tracking them to find their whereabouts," remarked an authority figure.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.

"Words fail me. I am shattered," were her words.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a profound tragedy."

She urged the community to refrain from sharing disturbing footage from the incident, noting this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's young family.

His Professional Legacy

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that aired on a popular local broadcasting platform.

Apart from his media career, Stock was engaged in various business ventures, including security provision, supplying VIP protection services and securing high-profile events across South Africa.

He was also reportedly involved in real estate operations and assisted with property reclaimations.

His death has shocked the country and led to an outpouring of tributes from his fans, the authorities and political parties.

A senior figure remarked he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's killing.
