LeBron James's Legendary Scoring Run Concludes, Yet Lakers Secure Win Over Raptors.

The Lakers star knew his incredible streak of scoring in double figures was threatened. In that crucial moment, however, he wasn't bothered.

The right decision meant distributing the ball – which is exactly what he did. Consequently, the unprecedented record finished.

James's astounding run of over 1,200 straight regular-season outings scoring at least ten was snapped on Thursday night, when the league's career points king was limited to a mere eight points in the Lakers' close triumph versus Toronto. He made the game-winning assist, setting up teammate Rui Hachimura to knock down a three-point shot to win the game.

“Nothing,” James stated after being questioned on the record concluding. “The team got the victory.”

An Unselfish Play Seals Victory

James could have tried to secure the contest – and extended his record – on the final possession, yet he opted to dish the ball to Hachimura stationed in the corner. Hachimura sank it, and James raised his arms triumphantly.

“Just playing basketball the proper way. Make the correct play,” James remarked. “That’s just been my philosophy. That’s how I was instructed to play. I’ve done that my whole career.”

James is acutely aware exactly how many points he has at any point,” said the team's head coach the coach. He made the play just as he has countless times.”

The Streak's Final Moments

James re-entered the contest one last time with 5:23 remaining, the result along with the historic run up for grabs. His tally was only six points from 3-of-15 shooting at that juncture.

He managed a basket with under two minutes remaining to knot the score and missed a shot with 1:01 left that would have pushed him to double digits.

He avoided taking one more attempt – even though he had a chance. Austin Reaves gave James the ball in the waning seconds, but James opted to make the extra pass instead.

The spirits of the game, when you play it correctly, they tend to repay you,” Redick stated.

A Look Back at a Staggering Run

This incredible run started back in January 2007. It stood as the greatest such streak in NBA history: MJ had 866 consecutive games with 10+ points, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar recorded 787, and Karl Malone recorded of 575 games.

LeBron is such an unselfish player,” noted Lakers center Jake LaRavia.

He simply plays the game of basketball. He could have shot but because of his nature as a player and his character as a person, he executed the team play, passed it to Rui and we won the game.”

Scoring in double figures was usually a formality early in the start of fourth quarters. Over the course of the record, he had achieved ten points by the start of the fourth 1,266 times before this game.

However, two of those rare games below ten points after three periods took place recently: He had nine points going into the fourth versus the Mavericks last week, then had six points before the fourth quarter against Phoenix on Monday night.

James managed to keep the streak alive against the Suns. In the following contest, it was over – and he celebrated all the same.

I only ever make the best play. That is instinctive, regardless of outcome,” James affirmed. “You make the unselfish play, the sports deities consistently giving back to me.”
