Vince Gilligan Reveals He Knows How The Apple TV+ Show Will End... At the Moment.

The creative mastermind did not foresee that the Apple TV+ show would turn into a massive hit. “I am so grateful to the audience,” Gilligan says. “I did not foresee the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

With the first season of the popular series wrapping up—and a second season officially in the works—the writers' room reflected on the viewer reception and whether it will impact the narrative path of Pluribus.

Regarding the Tremendous Fan Response

One could easily to get distracted by the constant speculation and audience predictions about Pluribus. He is striving to avoid both.

“The experience is akin to constantly eating something incredibly sweet and being in a state of bliss,” he describes. “It's the greatest thing, but I get wind of it from others, and that's intentional. Not once have I Googled myself, nor do I ever want to. It's not a lack of interest. It's a bottomless pit I know I would get lost in and then I'd be pooping in a five gallon bucket from the hardware store and I'd never leave my living room.”

In spite of trying to stay away, there’s no way to avoid the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The most practical strategy is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“We don't try to change the plot,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “Our storytelling is not influenced by audience chatter.”

“Better to keep our focus on the work,” he chimes in.

The Central Mystery: Will the showrunner Have a Plan for the Conclusion of Pluribus?

So if the writers are not listening by public opinion, does it imply they have already decided how Pluribus will ultimately end? The answer is yes… sort of.

“We have some compelling concepts about the ultimate destination,” Gilligan says. “but we are always ready to abandon a good idea for a better idea. That has held us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we get a better idea and I imagine we will be doing that.”

Alternatively, if all else fails, Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to serve as a last resort.

“I constantly suggest that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll pull back at the end and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Then again, why mess with the legendary finales?

“I want Carol to open her eyes with Bob Newhart there,” he jokes.

Pluribus is currently available on Apple TV+.
